Basvatarakam is best known for its cancer treatment in Hyderabad. For us, our patients are the first priority. We believe in providing the best cancer treatment to our patients. We conduct patient awareness programs Ex. talking about different types of cancer like blood cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer and other types of cancer. At the time of the first visit of the patient to the Institute for consultation, the patient details are filled in a registration form at the Main Reception / Registration Counter. The Patient will receive a registration card with their MR. No. (Medical Record Number), which is unique for each patient.

We create your medical record with this Medical Record Number, update and preserve it with utmost care and confidentiality. This number enables speedy retrieval of your medical records and data, each time you pay a visit to your doctor for consultation or need to be admitted for treatment.

Registration fee of Rs.150.00 will be collected at one time. This is valid for life time. The consultation fee collected from the patient will vary from specialty to specialist. The fee paid will be valid for a month.

Admission may be in two ways: (1) Inpatient Admission (2) Day Care Admission

If the doctors decide to admit the patient either as Inpatient or for Day care, Inpatient Registration Desk will assist the patient with formalities. Based upon diagnosis, eligibility, priority and availability of room/bed, related allotments will be made to the patient.

In case of non-availability of the room in the desired category, the staff will put your name on a waiting list and will inform you of the availability. On a repeat admission, you can request a room in the desired category on telephone 040-23551235 in advance for a particular day. The admission staff will contact you telephonically on the availability of the room.

Fee Details

The admission counter has a schedule of charges for different categories of rooms. Depending on the type of room desired by the patient, the required amount has to be deposited before getting admitted.

An average estimate of your hospitalization, the cost will be given by your treating Doctor. The treating Doctor will explain to you an approximate estimate of the expenses that you might incur during your stay at the hospital. However, the clinical condition of the patient shall determine the actual treatment requirements. Such necessities, whenever they arise, may lead to variation in the treatment estimate.

To keep yourself updated on the expenses you have incurred until any point of time, you can request a provisional bill from the Ward Secretary / Billing Department. In case of any clarification regarding expenditure or estimate for further treatment you can request your Doctor for the same.

Room Details

Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute provides affordable patient rooms ranging from general cubical wards to air-conditioned deluxe rooms. Every patient bed from General to Deluxe is equipped with a Central Oxygen supply & suction facility along with Nurse Call Facility. The nurse call facility ensures that a nurse responds to your call personally and immediately. It has been awarded as the best cancer hospital in India.

All admitted patients are provided with a fresh welcome kit on their arrival in the room which contains basic toiletry items like toothpaste, toothbrush, soap and tissue roll. Newspapers (Hindi or English) and a set of clean towels are supplied to patients occupying rooms in a semiprivate category & upwards. There is a provision for a relative of a patient to stay with the patient in all wards except ICU, MICU, HDU (Post Operative ward).

A variety of inpatient accommodations to suit the requirements of all our patients are offered. The various room categories and facilities available as follows: –

  • Super Deluxe Rooms
    These are well furnished and spacious air-conditioned single rooms with ambiance containing an anteroom. It is provided with Central Oxygen & Suction facility, a Television set, a Refrigerator Telephone with a local call facility and an attendant couch for the patient’s attendant.
  • A/C Deluxe Rooms
    These are well-furnished air-conditioned single rooms with ambiance containing an anteroom. It is provided with Central Oxygen & Suction facility, a Television set, a Refrigerator Telephone with a local call facility and an attendant couch for the patient’s attendant.
  • Non A/C Deluxe Rooms
    These are well furnished single rooms with ambiance containing an anteroom. It is provided with Central Oxygen & Suction facility, a Television set, a Refrigerator Telephone with a local call facility and an attendant couch for the patient’s attendant.
  • Non A/C Single Rooms
    These are well furnished single rooms. It is provided with Central Oxygen & Suction facility, a Television set, a Telephone with a local call facility and an attendant couch for the patient’s attendant.
  • A/C Twin sharing private rooms
    These are well-furnished air-conditioned rooms of the hospital which are shared by two patients. It is provided with a Telephone with a local call facility, a television, an attendant couch for the patient’s attendant and a common toilet cum bathroom.
  • Non A/C Twin Sharing Private Rooms
    These are well-furnished rooms of the hospital which are shared by two patients. It is provided with a Telephone with a local call facility, an attendant couch for the patient’s attendant and a common toilet cum bathroom.
  • General (Cubical Ward)
    300 single bed cubicles with a provision for central oxygen and suction facility, nurse call bell system apart from routine Patient Information facilities. One patient attendee will be allowed to stay along with the patient for 24 hours.
  • Day Care Ward
    The Daycare patients are normally given a general ward unless specified by the patient.
  • ICU/MICU/HDU
    ICU is a well-equipped ward in Old Wing with centralized oxygen & suction to take care of critical patients. The ward is equipped with a ventilator, multi-para monitor & Bi-pap facility, Infusion pump, etc. One doctor is available round the clock to monitor the patient besides the nursing staff. There is a waiting room furnished with easy chairs for patient’s attendants.

Food Services

Good food is important in the treatment of the patients and is a part of total Patient Information.

The catering or dietary services of the hospital are perhaps one of the very important as being an image of the institution. Its basic concept is to provide nutritious, healthy and hygienic food for the patient. It’s well said, “Good food has Preventive, Curative and Rehabilitative value”. It enhances the immunity of the person by providing daily requirements of nutrients to the body therefore healthy eating habits go a long way in ensuring a healthy life.

The dietary department of the hospital is one of the support services, which cater to the dietary needs of the patients and staff working in the hospital. It is headed by three Dieticians. The dietary department ensures that patients are provided with a well-balanced nutritious diet. As per policy, only a vegetarian diet is provided in Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute.

Special care is taken to maintain proper hygienic conditions to avoid infection to the patients. The kitchen staff is given special training for various therapeutic diets that are served to the patient and about how to maintain food hygiene in the hospital.

The dietician is responsible for the food of the patients. Cyclic menus are followed according to the seasonal vegetables in the hospital for the patients. Meals are checked and tested by the Dietician before serving to the patient so as to ensure quality and hygienic food. Each dish is covered individually and transported in electronically heated trolleys.

Daily feedback is taken from the patients by the dietician about the quality and quantity of various foods being served and any modifications are incorporated in the patient’s menu. Patient satisfaction is the foremost priority in the hospital. We believe in providing the best cancer treatment to our patients. We are among the top 15 best cancer hospitals in India. Depending upon the patient’s requirement, various types of therapeutic diets are prepared like Renal diet, Diabetic diet, Neutropenic diet and Salt restricted diet, etc. Special care is taken to customize to the needs of all the patients. The patients are also given diet charts at the time of discharge for the necessary care.

Discharge Procedure

The consultant in charge of the patient will decide when it is advisable for the patient to leave the hospital. A discharge summary or discharge advice will be explained and handed over to the patient /attendants for follow up treatment at home. Copies of all the investigations are made available to patients from time to time during your hospitalization.

It is important that you arrange to leave by discharge time so that we can prepare the bed and the room for new admission. It takes about 3 hours for the discharge formalities to be completed after the doctor advises discharge. If you are unable to leave by 12 noon, bed charges for half a day are added for the stay till 6:00 pm beyond which full day charges are billed to the patient.
